Course Title: Head and neck anatomy

Prerequisite or simultaneous: General Histology (code 15) - General Embryology (code 16)

Credits: 3.5 (2.5 theory, one practical)

Course type: Theory-practical

Objective: Recognition of the macroscopic and microscopic structures and development of various segments in the head and neck

 

Course outlines:

43 hours theory:

×  Skull, cervical vertebrae  and joints (6 hours)

×  Muscles, fascia, triangles, and cervical nerves and vessels (4 hours)

×  Muscles of the face, head and scalp (3 hours)

×  Infratemporal orifice, head and face nerves and vessels (4 hours)

×  Development of the skull, spine and thorax (one hour)

×  Anatomy of the oral cavity and salivary glands (3 hours)

×  Anatomy of the nose, pharynx and larynx (3 hours)

×  Histology of mouth and teeth (4 hours)

×  Embryology of head and neck, thyroid, parathyroid and thymus (4 hours)

×  Anatomy of the vision and tear system (3 hours)

×  Anatomy of the ear (2 hours)

×  Histology of the eye, tear system and eyelids (2 hours)

×  Histology of the ear (2 hours)

×  Embryology of the eye and ear (2 hours)

34 hours practical:

Ø  Anatomy of the skull and cervical vertebrae (7 hours)

Ø  Vessels, nerves and muscles of the head, face and infratemporal orifice (6 hours)

Ø  Histology and embryology of the eye and ear (4 hours)

Ø  Histology and embryology of the mouth and teeth (soft and hard palate, gums, lips, tongue and teeth) and saliva glands (4 hours)

Ø  Anatomy of the nose, pharynx, larynx and mouth orifices (5 hours)

Ø  Anatomy of the eye and ear (4 hours)

Ø  Surface anatomy of the head and neck (4 hours)

Student Evaluation Method:

Student-based principles will be observed during the term to evaluate the performance of students by the assigned projects, as well as oral and written final exams.
