The Department of Anatomy is one of the oldest departments in Faculty of Medicine.  It is responsible for teaching anatomy, histology and embryology. The research fields are divided into four majors divisions: Embryology, Neuroscience,  Reproductive Biology.

The Department of Anatomy has the responsibility of teaching anatomy for undergraduate students (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation, Paramedics, Nursing, and Midwifery) and postgraduate students (M.S.c. students and Ph.D. students). It is also active in the field of embryology, and neuroscience.

Our missions are to

  1. Generate new knowledge in the field of cell biology, developmental biology and neuroscience research.
  2. Prepare the postgraduate students for scientific careers within academia.
  3. Teach anatomical sciences including gross anatomy, developmental anatomy, histology, and neuroanatomy for health professionals in training. 

The department enjoys a large dissection hall, radiological anatomy hall, two large rooms for anatomical models study and one histology lab in education part. In addition, there are four labs (histochemistry, stereology, embryology and teratology) in research part.
